Blenheim District Library is hosting well known local Eric Percy, now an author of three published books.
Shifting with his family to Blenheim in 1974 he worked for a local furnishing firm, and later operated his own retail outlets. As well as his business, Eric worked for Radio NZ for 10 years as a sports broadcaster, covering mainly rugby and racing commentaries and was sports coordinator for Radio Marlborough.
With his knowledge of racing Eric started a book “Darling of the Crowds” in 2008, based on a true story about a champion racehorse and the man who believed in the horse. This he shelved for a few years, but he completed the draft in 2013 with the intention to publish it later. In the interim he wrote further novels, “The Man With The Flowers” (a second world war story) and a romantic novel, “Silver Lake”.
“Silver Lake” was published earlier this year, followed by “Darling Of The Crowds” and “The Man With The Flowers.”
Currently Eric is working on a novel set in the Thames Goldfields in the 19th century.
