At Whatamango Recreation Reserve there is a nationally renown harakeke garden, the Renee Orchiston Collection. Each of the 50 different varieties of harakeke are different genetically, and are used in different ways by weavers. Come and hear about the collection, harvest your own harakeke according to tikanga (protocol), and after a demonstration from weavers, weave yourself a small putiputi (flower) to take home.
